Flexible Spending Account

The HALO FSA and Commuter FSA is through Wex, formerly Discovery Benefits.  Flexible Spending Account allow employees to pay health care and dependent care expenses on a pretax basis.  Enrollment in the Flexible Spending Account plans results in getting a debit card, which can be utilized for eligible expenses.   By anticipating your family’s health care and dependent care costs for the next year, you can actually lower your taxable income. 

FSA Overview

Plan Information:

  • Employees participating in the PPO Medical Plan, or not enrolled in medical, are eligible to participate in the Health Care FSA and Dependent Care FSA
  • Employees participating in the HDHP Medical Plan are eligible to participate in the Limited Purpose FSA.  
  • Employees participating in the HSA Medical Plan are eligible to participate in the Dependent Care FSA
  • You cannot change contributions during the plan year, unless if you experience a Qualifying Life Event.
  • The amount you elect will be deducted out of each paycheck on a pre-tax basis and put into your Health Care FSA. Since the FSA is pre-funded, you will have access to your full election amount and can use those pre-tax dollars in your FSA to pay for your eligible out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Your FSA Dependent Care funds become available as they are contributed into your account and are not all available immediately

Contribution Limits:

  • Traditional FSA: $3,400, with $680 rollover.
    • Your annual election is split across 26 pay periods.  Your plan is fully funded, after the 1/3/2026 check date, giving you access to your entire election, immediately.
  • Limited Purpose FSA: $3,400, with $680 rollover.
    • Your annual election is split across 26 pay periods.  Your plan is fully funded, after the 1/3/2026 check date, giving you access to your entire election, immediately.
  • Dependent Care FSA: $7,500 or $3,750 if married and filing separately.
    • Your annual election is split across 26 pay periods.  Your plan is funded, as your Payroll contributions occur.
  • Commuter FSA: $340 Monthly Limit

2025 Unused Fund Reminder:

Traditional FSA:

  • 12/31/2026: Deadline for 2025 FSA expenses
  • 3/31/2026: Deadline for FSA claim submission, for claims incurred in 2025.
  • April 2026: FSA rollover of up to $680. Unused funds above $680 will be forfeited.

Dependent Care FSA:

  • 3/15/2026: Deadline to incur claims for the 2025 balance.
  • 3/31/2026: Deadline to file claims incurred from 1/1/2025 – 3/15/2026.
